Gerard Lopez wants to buy Valencia CF

Former Lille owner Gerard Lopez seeks to purchase a  new club, with Valencia CF being the primary target so far. He already owns Mouscron and Boavista, but wants a bigger club to be able to play for Champions league and maybe even some silverware.

Interestingly he tried to acquire Southampton from Chinese owner Jisheng who owns 80% of the shares of the club with an initial offer of 130 million euros, but that hasn't materialized, so either his offer was rejected privately or he changed his target and started focusing on Valencia CF with all of the reports at that time about Valencia CF being sold and the prince of Johor, etc...

Even though Peter Lim has stated that he has no intention of selling, I think with the big loss of merchandise sales this season, with the complete loss of season ticket sales due to Covid19, with the looming threat from the Valencian government of big penalties for Meriton for not fulfilling the contract about the new Mestalla and the Pavilion in its surroundings, with bigger and bigger calls from fans to boycott Valencia CF products and Meriton's properties I think he is going to have a hard time fighting off offers even if he is set on not selling. I think he probably wants to sell, he knows he is hated in Valencia by all of its fans by now, he knows he is going to be losing money with he club for at least the next 2-3 years, so publicly he is telling he doesn't plan to sale as a way to boost the clubs price or at the least maintain it, because if he announces he wants to sell the price will likely go down.

Mestalla opens its doors on Sunday

Valencia CF will open the doors to the Mestalla after the Spanish government allowed for a limited opening of stadiums, with 5000 seats being available for the match against SD Eibar. There has to be 1.5 meters of space around each person and no food, drinks or smokes will be allowed. In addition to that every attendee must wear some sort of mark the government has deemed 'special' and everyones temperature will be taken at the entrance, which I'm sure at temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius these days won't affect the people's temperature at all.

Its better than being closed that's for sure, but only 5000 fans in a stadium with a capacity of 55k is very low. Question is how many fans will attend? There are ongoing calls for boycotting Valencia CF merchandise as well as Meriton's businesses and properties, on top of that a lot of people might be too afraid because of covid19 to attend, so it will be interesting to see if all of the available tickets are purchased.

Protest planned against Peter Lim

Wrote an article about Peter Lim's terrible management of Valencia CF just yesterday and these types of articles have been common in the 7 years since Lim's arrival. You can miscount several mishaps that happened due to lack of experience in owning and managing a club, due to wanting to make the club successful quick, due to not being familiar with Spanish football, etc... But you'd think one would learn from their mistakes, you'd think Lim would do things better over time, but no he's done things worse over time, he's become more stubborn in his ways and more arrogant than ever!

When he sacked Marcelino and soon after Alemany I think it was the last straw for many people, there was no defending such an illogical, purely stupid move! Since then Valencia CF has been on a steep decline, and last season giving away most of the club's core players for barely nothing or free was just the peak of his terrible management of this club. No foresight to predict how failing to qualify for the Champions league can negatively affect the team, how the move itself is going to be seen, how it will negatively affect the players to sack in such a manner such a bellowed and respected coach.

He could have been the arrogant hot head that he is and fired him in the summer, without ALL of the negative consequences firing him at the beginning of the season for no reason, and who knows the team might have even failed to qualify for the Champions league even with Marcelino, so Lim would have the perfect excuse. Again it doesn't take too much to know this, its not rocket science.

Anyways people are sick of it and are planning a massive protest against Peter Lim and Meriton on May 8th. There's been several protests over the past 2 years against Meriton, each one becoming bigger and more serious.

Javi Gracia sacked, Voro takes over

Valencia have just announced that Javi Gracia has been sacked.

Javi Gracia sacked

Voro will take over for the final four games as Valencia stares at a relegation battle.

Gracia leaves with the fourth worst win record in La Liga

Koeman: 18% (4 of 22) Neville: 19% (3 of 16) Valdez: 23% (5 of 22) 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗮: 𝟮𝟰% (𝟴 of 𝟯𝟰) Miljanic: 25% (5 of 20)
His numbers probably aren't quite as bad as Neville's or the king of mediocrity Koeman, as they had better squads.

Gracia does have some mitigating factors in his defence. He was lied to from the beginning by Lim and Murthy who promised him signings then undermined him by not only failing to provide them, but also gifting one of the few quality midfielders, Kondogbia, to a rival club after the season had started. Gracia did offer his resignation but this was refused due to the compensation needed. Valencia would have been able to fire him in the summer without compensation but as usual, the club's indecisiveness has made a hash of things. Despite all that, with the squad we have, we should be fighting for top 7, not viewing the end of the season with such trepidation.

FC Barcelona interested in Jose Luis Gaya

FC Barcelona interested in Gaya
FC Barcelona are keep on signing Jose Luis Gaya as a long term replacement for Jordi Alba who is in his last years of his career, and are trying to find a proper replacement. FC Barcelona have identified Jose Luis Gaya as the best possible replacement for Jordi Alba and are keep to make a move if Jose Luis Gaya does not extend his contract this year. We have some reports that Jose Luis Gaya has either already signed a contract extension with Valencia CF or is about to in the summer, but we'll have to wait and see how trustworthy this information is.

Valencia CF has been churning out high quality left backs for over a decade now, with Jordi Alba, Juan Bernat, Jose Luis Gaya, Toni Lato, etc... FC Barcelona are looking to repeat the success with Jordi Alba by signing Gaya at his prime and have him establish himself at Barcelona. At Barcelona Gaya's salary is going to go up over 50% percent, and even though he is in the top level of highest paid players at Valencia CF, barely behind the likes of Guedes and Maxi Gomez, he would earn at least 2 million euros more at FC Barcelona.

There are other clubs also following Gaya's contract development, clubs like Bayern Munich, Manchester City and others.

Roberto Moreno Valencia CF new coach?

Roberto Moreno new Valencia
CF coach?
Spanish media are reporting that former Spanish and Monaco coach Roberto Moreno has been contacted by Peter Lim and is one of the favorites to become the next Valencia CF manager! As I've reported couple dozen times now, Javi Gracia is set to be sacked in the summer, Valencia CF has put a clause in his contract that they can rescind the contract within 2 weeks after the season finishes and they won't have to pay Javi Gracia any damages.

Other coaching names that have been recently linked to Valencia CF are Jose Mourniho, Claudio Ranieri and few other Spanish coaches that have been mentioned for quite a while now.

Valencia CF season 2021/22 plans

Valencia CF wallpaper
There are a dozen of things that will 100% happen in the next season. First of all Valencia CF will have to sell players in order to earn around 40 million euros, about 30 million euros to balance the books and an additional 10 million euros for replacements, mostly players from second division clubs.

Second Valencia CF will need to reduce its wage bill, so that means not only will the sold players have to bring in a lot of money, but they have to be one of the highest earners in the club in order to reduce the wage bill, that means at least one of Guedes, Maxi, Cillessen, and/or Gaya will have to be sold.

Jose Mourinho in talks with Valencia CF

Jose Mourinho to Valencia CF?
Jose Mourinho has begun talks with Valencia CF about his arrival to the Mestalla in what appears to be a big friendly push by Jorge Mendes to setup Jose Mourinho with a new job as quickly as possibly, and hookup his friend and business partner Peter Lim with a solid manager.

Jose Mourinho's salary at Tottenham was huge, much more than Valencia CF can afford, but because he was sacked he is set to receive a huge compensation which would leave him extremely well of financially, so he will be looking for an ambitious sporting project and of course doing a favor to his agent and friend Jorge Mendes. Peter Lim is also looking at the possibility of using some of the summer player sales money to increase the budget for the coach and make available 4 million euros for a seasonal salary, with big bonuses if Valencia CF qualify for the Champions league, in the region of additional 1.5 million euros.

Kang-In Lee for Rafa Mir swap

Kang-In Lee will not renew his contract and thus Valencia CF will be looking to sell him in the summer when the transfer window opens! I've written in previous article about some of the reasons Kang-In Lee isn't renewing his contract, but the main reason is the lack of playing time he's gotten under Gracia. Since he didn't want to renew his contract without improved playing time, the team saw it fit to punish Kang-In Lee by instructing Gracia to never play him until he renews, but that just put things into a never ending negative circle and basically cemented Lee's wishes to continue elsewhere.

With Kang-In Lee's contract expiring next year, Valencia CF must sell him this year and get as much possible for him, otherwise he would just leave for free next season. Valencia CF been asking around about Rafa Mir and showing interest in our former player, so that gives Valencia CF the option to offer Kang-In Lee for Rafa Mir. The current Valencia CF player is valued higher, but he also has much less playing time this season, while Rafa Mir has been featuring regularly and scoring goals, increasing his market value slowly but surely, with his value surely to reach 15 million euros in the summer.

Thierry Correia out for a month, Cillessen back

Valencia CF managed to break the away 'curse'  and get a draw against Real Betis, but in doing so 3 players limped off the field and had to be replaced as they all got injured.

The first one who got injured was Thierry Correia, he jumped to block a possible cross from an opposition player, but dropped down awkwardly, with his feet and knee at an awkward angle. He was diagnosed today with a sprained lateral ligament from the knee and will be out for a whole month.

Good thing that we just got Piccini back from injury, so we have a replacement now, even though it would have been fine if Wass played there as well.

Carlos Soler limped off in the second half, he suffered some sort of thigh injury and its been confirmed that he still has discomfort, so he is most likely going to miss our next match in midweek, though should be healed by the weekend for our second match this week.

Finally we hace Uros Racic who also suffered an injury, but from the looks of it was just muscle cramps, even with that sometimes it can damage the muscle and you'd need at least 3-5 days to recover, but from what we know so far it looks like he is going to be okay and is likely to feature in the next match.

Now for some good news in the injury department, Jasper Cillessen trained with the group and has been recovering well, so apart from his fitness level he should be otherwise ready for our next match.

Valencia CF offers a new plan for Nou Mestalla

Valencia CF has recently been in trouble with the local government as the previous contract was breached by Valencia CF by not finishing the new stadium and developing the surrounding place as a result of the government giving them the space.

There were threats that Valencia CF would have to pay penalties and these would have been further costs to the club, which is already under big financial pressure. Basically they offered an explanation of the situation with the stadium, how they were complying with the ATE and future plans and promises.

In the new application for changes to the ATE the club is moving the competition date for the stadium and its surroundings to 2026 and offers up a "concrete" plan on how it would go about its business to finish it.

Claudio Ranieri to return to Valencia CF?

Reports from Italy are suggesting that Valencia CF want to bring back Claudio Ranieri for the third time in a bid to rebuild the squad and improve our younger players. Claudio Ranieri is well known for taking weak teams and building them up to become serious competitors ever since the start of his career. He is known as the tinker because he is always trying new stuff, new tactics and formation, so he'll rebuild a team and make them much better competitors, but will continue tinkering to the point where at some point they regress to a serious degree and then he is sacked.

Ranieri was the coach of Cagliari between 1988 and 1991, taking the Casteddu from Serie C to Serie A in three years, so its not wonder that they are also interested in bringing Ranieri to their side. Ranieri's contract expires this season with Sampdoria and his contract still hasn't been extended, which means he is most likely going to be a free agent in the summer.

Valencia CF to reacquire Rafa Mir?

Valencia CF sold Rafa Mir in 2018 to Premier League club Wolves who incidentally also have former Valencia CF coach Nuno Santo managing them. On 24 November 2015, Mir was called up to the main squad by manager Nuno Espírito Santo. So no wonder Wolves purchased Rafa Mir, although he was instantly loaned out and has been loaned out each consecutive season.

Wolves last loaned Rafa mir to Huesca, and he's broken through with them and scored 15 goals in all competitions, also providing several assists. He has scored in each of their last six matches and of course with that he brought big attention on to himself.

Samu Costa to join Valencia CF?

Samu Costa to join Valencia CF this summer? Valencia CF is supposedly interested in Almeria's midfielder Samu Costa who has joined them on a loan for the 2020/21 season and has featured 11 times for them so far. Samuel Costa is a Portuguese footballer who is a youth product of Braga football club, he joined Braga's B team in 2019 and the following year was promoted to the first team, but shorty after loaned out of UD Almeria.

His agent is Jorge Mendes and according to reports his price tag is 6 million euros for 60% of the players rights. Very steep price tag for a player who's barely featured 11 times for UD Almeria and who only played one match for Braga before being loaned out, but we all know Jorge Mendese's players are usually overpriced flops or one season wonders. Considering Peter Lim and Jorge Mendes are close friends though, it wouldn't surprise me if Valencia CF slashed 6 million euros for this player.

Valencia Mestalla in shambles

Miss this guy yet?
You thought Valencia CF has issues, think again! Valencia Mestalla or Valencia's B team is doing terribly, so much so that the team is last position in segunda B relegation group, after being last in their previous group. There is 4 if I may call them "divisions" above the one VCF Mestalla is playing right now, so its not like they were just too highly positioned and are now going back to their real level, no the division the team is right now is quite low, there is still a bit lower than that, but at those levels its teams C level or lower teams playing.

Peter Lim and Anil Murthy love to mention the word "youth", but how can Valencia CF draw from its youth pool, when these players are so bad they can't even sustain in second division group 3 or whatever. This is just another example of the bad management under Peter Lim, there is literally no long term planning, no long term stability, no real management and staff that have a clue how to run a club. Its all makeshift, put duck tape on it and leave it be like that.

Wolves going after Goncalo Guedes

Premier League side Wolves are considering a possible player-plus-cash deal for Valencia winger Goncalo Guedes ahead of the 2021/22 season. Wolves are managed by non other than former Valencia CF coach Nuno Santo and he has been closely following Valencia CF since his sacking, and he has identified Goncalo Guedes as this summers target for his team.

Italian midfielder Patrick Cutrone joined Valencia CF on a six-month loan from Wolves in January and even though he hasn't featured enough, Wolves are hoping that a decent 20 million euros offer plus the player will entice Valencia CF enough to sell Goncalo Guedes.

La Liga closes Diakhaby's racism case

La Liga has concluded its investigation into the claim of racism by Diakhaby and has made a decision. According to the video and sound tests available, the investigation cannot confirm "ALL" the words Diakhaby heard in the 28th minute of the Cadiz CF-Valencia CF match played last Sunday. Just because no evidence was found does not mean that this was not the case.

This means there will be no punishment towards Cala as there is no evidence of racism and ultimately the case is now closed. Do I believe Diakhaby, yes, there is no reason why he would lie and his reaction in the match seemed genuine, but again without audio of the incident we can not know for sure what exactly was said and if Cala is a racist or not. Plus there is the issue of being an asshole, a jerk who wanted to trigger Diakhaby without him actually being a racist. These are complicated cases and again without audio evidence its hard to say what the truth is.

Ultimately I think this is the right decision, innocent until proven guilty and since there is no evidence of the incident, its claim against claim and thus you can not make any sort of judgement based solely on that.

Fabio Blanco contract extension stalled

We've reported about Fabio Blanco before, how he is attracting interest from big clubs like Barcelona FC as Valencia CF is unable to extend his contract. In fact Anil Murthy had taken up the negotiations personally with the player in the hopes of facilitating a new deal, but as you guys know I don't have any confidence in Anil Murthy, as he is completely incompetent and that has proven right.

New reports are coming up that even though Valencia CF have come out with an improved contract in which they offer him several promises like first team callout next season and things of that nature, the player and the club are still far off from reaching an agreement. The biggest issue seems to be the length of the new contract, Valencia CF want to extend for 2 years with optional 3 years, with the player wanting a better financial contract for more than 2 years.

Bayern Munich interested in Kang-In Lee

With all the focus on the issue of racism these days, one would be forgiven if they thought everything else stopped, but clubs are making plans for next season and thinking of the next big new player, next big talent. Valencia CF has one such talent in its ranks, but they would rather not play him, they would rather not extend his contract and basically allow teams to snatch him on the cheap from us, because we have so much talent we might as well give out some of it to other clubs to help them out.

Anil Murthy is such a terrible president, so much incompetence, why hasn't Kang-In Lee's contract been extended? Why is Gracia avoiding Kang-In and not playing him? Does he really believe that Alex Blanco is better than Lee or Vallejo is better than Lee? The difference in talent is huge, we just need to shape that talent, but that won't happen if he doesn't get any playing time, while every single big club looks at the player and is making plans to snatch him.

Bayern Munich are the latest club showing interest in Kang-In Lee, they are probably looking at him as a long term replacement for Mueller or some of the other veterans who are getting older and would need to be replaced accordingly.  Valencia CF meanwhile is sleeping and allowing its talent to be taken.

Javi Gracia set to leave

We have another confirmation that Javi Gracia is set to leave in the summer, this time through Marca, who are reporting that Valencia CF are looking at 3 options to replace Javi Gracia. I've already reported that Valencia CF were looking at Diego Martinez with the other two potions being José Bordalás and Michel.

Jose Bordalas is the current coach of Getafe and he has been at the helm since 2016. Supposedly he is looking to make a change.

The third option is Michel González, he is currently without a team and available, his last coaching job was with Pumas UNAM, but he resigned due to personal reasons, before that he coached Malaga unsuccessfully.
