Should Emery leave in the summer poll results

After writing an article how Unai Emery should leave in the summer and after getting mixed responses I decided to put a poll and see what you thought about it. Here are the results:

Should Unai Emery leave in the summer?
Yes
  17 (48%)
No
  10 (28%)
Not sure
  8 (22%)
Total Votes: 35

Seems more people think he should leave, but its fair to mention that there are 8 undecided and should Emery retain third position and Spain and go further in the Europa League he may return some of the support.

Join me to a new forum and lets get the discussion going

Hi there. I've changed my forum link to a new forum one managed by Gavin, Rezaur and now me. There are already more than dozen people there actively discussing and I hope to see all of you there. Its obviously an English language forum.

You can go on there immediately and engage in discussion right now even without registration, but preferably you would want to register if the rules change in the future.

Fellow Valencia website closing down

http://loco4losche.com/blogweb/index.php is a fellow Valencia CF website which I know most of you probably know and has been serving the Valencia fan community for the past 3 years. Its unfortunate Kyle is closing it down, but one can understand his choice.

I'd like to wish him good luck in all of his future endeavors and hope he stays a Valencia CF fan. As they say once you go Valencianista, you never go back. :)

Hopefully I can step up and try to soften up this blow by providing you with more news and articles.

Some news

Hey guys, finally some time with no matches and a little bit of downtime to take to write for other stuff instead of match previews and match reports.

Anyways I did an interview with barcablaugranes so check that out and see what I had to say mostly about Valencia, but also about Barcelona and the Champions League and Europa League.

Also if you want to know the top 10 football clubs of the world of the world go to www.footballclubrankings.com. It features a weekly ranking of the top 10 football clubs in the world.

This week Valencia play with Grenada, finally a weaker team and a chance for us to start winning again. I agree with Emery when he says our attack must improve, but I'll leave my thoughts for the match previews. Anyways that's that.

Player profiles updated and more

I've added Victor Ruiz and Antonio Barragan profiles and updated all the rest of them. Player numbers have been updated, some missing information has been added and I've updated the players market value, so be sure to check it out.

Make sure you register to the forum and tell your friends and family about it as well and have them register as well.

I've also done a lot of the fantasy league, but right now it seems like updating it would be the biggest problem as it hit me how much work it actually is to update 25 players up to 3 times a week sometimes with all those stats. I mean its at least a 3-4 people job and its actually through code and there is no easy UI or anything.

So right now I'm reassessing the fantasy league and hopefully I'll figure it out, otherwise I may just scrap it.

Valencia CF wallpapers batch 3

Hallo ladies and gentlemen, there has been quite some time since the last batch of Valencia CF wallpapers and that has been because I've been working on other blog things like the squad page and the fantasy league.

But I've had enough spare time recently to finish up all the new Valencia CF wallpapers. I hope you like them and use them as your screensaver and spread them around the web.

I would also like to urge you once again if you know your way around Photoshop or Corel programs to create VCF wallpapers and send them to me at my email address: slickr12345_at_yahoo_dot_com.

Here is the latest batch of Valencia CF new wall papers:

New page launched

Today I've launched the new "SQUAD" page to compliment the blog. There you will find all players from the senior team and by clicking the links you will be taken to player profile with all information you would like to know, including exclusive information as market value and player rating updated real time.

There was also a suggestion to add videos of the players and I'm still working on that, mainly searching good quality videos that you can actually see.

I'm still working on a Valencia CF fantasy league on a separate server, it would act similarly to the premier league fantasy league, but of course only with the Valencia CF players. Its still a long way out though so don't hold your breathe.

Also I've just opened a forum, so if you'd like to join you are welcomed to. The forum website is www.clubvalenciacf.co.cc/

One year celebration

www.clubvalenciacf.blogspot.com celebrates one year since its beginning, it was 4th July 2010 when I first wrote an article.

That first month there were 55 pageviews and 30 unique visitors, it doubled the next month to 108 pageviews and continually it doubled and even tripled in visitors as the months passed by. Last month of June there was a record number of visitors with more than 13.000 pageviews and more than 11.000 unique visitors.

Hopefully the Valencia CF community will continue to grow and so will this blog and I hope to write many more articles and news in the future.

I've been working behind the scenes on new stuff and I'm slowly introducing it. I've moved the 2010/11 fixtures&results in the new "Archive" section, the player ratings from 2010/11 was moved there and the goals and assists were moved there as well.
That page will have all the old stuff, while the new fixtures and player ratings are reset and prepared for the new season.

I'm working on a "Squad" page that will have all the players and when you can click on the player names you go to a section with all the player info, transfer records, market value, match statistics and stuff like that.

Its a lot of work, but hopefully I'll have it before the new season starts.

Comments now use DISQUS

I've updated the blog to use the DISQUS comment system instead of the blogger one, so that more people can comment. Unfortunately in the process the blogger comments were removed, although they are still on the blogger server and can be available should I revert back to the blogger comments system.

I'm currently working on two more pages and trying out external PHP and MYSQL databases to run a fantasy like system although right now its way off.
I'm also working out on different player ratings overlays, testing out new fixtures overlays and whether to have 2010/11 and 2011/12 fixtures on one page or move them to 2 pages or drop the 2010/11 fixtures.

I will probably place a poll on all these issues in order to figure it all out, but I will have it  all sorted out before the new season begins that is for sure.

Valencia Mid season awards

Valencia has ended the mid season in 4th place in the Spanish premier league and is still in the Uefa Champions League ready to face German Schalke, with Copa Del Ray progress still up for grabs.

So who was the best summer signing for Valencia CF and how do we come to such a conclusion!? Do you look at the official statistics, personal ratings, overall skill, team work all of the above or a mix of some.

Well I'll be looking at the official statistics, my own ratings I give to the players and just generally assesing who did better with the amount of playing time he got.

The three runners for the award are: Roberto Soldado, Aritz Aduriz and Tino Costa.

Roberto Soldado has scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists in La Liga, but he has not played as much as Aduriz. He works hard and has good shooting ability and good speed as well as heading ability, but lacks pace and explosiveness, he isn't very agile and looses his cool way too much as we have witnessed in few matches.

Aritz Aduriz has score 6 goals and has provided 1 assist in La Liga and has played the most of any Valencia player. He is a very hard working player and his headers are superb, but his shooting abilities not so much and in fact he has missed quite a few opportunities due to bad shooting. Aduriz is also slow and while he has strength he lacks agility and technique.

Tino Costa started slowly only featuring after Banega was injured, but has come off strong in recent weeks. He has scored 2 goals, but has no assists and has 6 yellow cards so far. Tino Costa lacks the possession ability where he can spread and dictate the match, but he is good in defending and tracking the ball as well as linking up with the attackers when really offensive. He also has great shooting ability as seen vs Bursaspor, but he lacks in other areas such as dribbling, pace and long passing.

Judging by my own ratings Tino Costa comes first, than Aduriz and than Soldado, but it must be noted that Tino has a lot less playing time and he has been left frustrated and unable to do anything on several occasions.

The best summer signing for Valencia is Aritz Aduriz.
- He came in for 5 millions if I'm not mistaken, 5 million less than Soldado and 1 million less than Tino Costa, but has had the most playing time, has scored the most goals and has been very hard working. He does not loose his cool easily and fights to the very end for the team. He has scored some crucial goals for Valencia and if he keeps up the good work, he may become an important Valencia player.
Right now he is the best summer signing for Valencia.

Best Valencia player overall
The three runners are: Cezar Sanchez, Jordi Alba and Joaquin Sanchez.

Cezar Sanchez has been a rock, no a mountain on Valencia's goal and if we look at it statistically he is the third best goalkeeper in Spain at the moment. Since Valencia has conceeded more goal than R. Madrid and Barcelona due to the poor defense he could easily be the best goalkeeper in Spain. He has single-handedly saved Valencia on numerous occasions and has been the most consistent player.

Jordi Alba hasn't played too much and one may say the matches he has played in have been easier, but that is just not the case. Every opportunity he has been given he has used it to the fullest and not being a natural left back he has slotted perfectly in that position with good defensive displays and great offensive displays.
He has also been more consistent than Mathieu and has often contributed more to the attack.

Joaquin Sanchez has been reinvented this year and this may well be his best season in a Valencia shirt since coming here from Betis. He has scored 2 goals, provided 2 assists and more often than not provided real threat on the right wing. Pablo may have taken this place if he hasn't been playing so badly for the last month, after a very good start. Joaquin has provided a lot of pace on the right wing and on his day he is the best player in Europe, if not the world.

The best Valencia player overall is: Cezar Sanchez
-Cezar has been so influential since coming to Valencia that its hard to imagine the success Valencia has achieved without him. He has been responsible for so many good results Valencia has achieved that its really even amazing. Recently he has been struggling with injuries, but when fit he is just top class. He has also been influential on the younger players and has helped Valencia immensely.

Valencia CF player ratings

Here are the players rankings for Valencia so far in the season. I've ranked the players in 17 matches and regretably missed to watch 5 matches and were unable to rate them in additional two with my internet being down.

The best rated player as you can see is Cezar Sanchez and rightfully so as he is one of the best goalkeepers in La Liga statistically speaking with more saves than any other goalkeeper based on minutes played and saves made.

Second player may surprise someone, but its Feghouli because he has only played one match with enough minutes that he can be ranked and he played good in that match, earning him a rating of 7. So you will want to watch the cumulative points also as it determines how many matches they've played and their rating.

Realistically the picture would be: Cezar, Vicente, Alba, Pablo and Joaquin.

I know Pablo hasn't been playing well for a month, but I've failed to rate him in the last 4 or 5 matches he played, and he was getting good ratings at the beginning of the season.

Best overall player, best summer signing and who should Valencia buy article will come shortly.

Defender Miguel Brito rank so far - Player Ratings

Miguel Brito battling for the ball with Joan Verdu
Its time to evaluate Valencia CF defender Miguel Brito. He has had very good games this season and he is obviously working harder than ever. I expect to see full commitment from him in matches and in training.

Player Rank:
vs Man. Utd.; Miguel 7
vs Hercules; Miguel 6
vs Racing Santander; Miguel 7
vs Malaga; Miguel 6.5
Overall score:6.6
Miguel has had very good matches so far, although he hasn't been starting most regularly, Unai Emery has been rotating most of the players so there is nothing strange about that. While his performances have been very good as I've said, Bruno has actually been also playing very well and there will surely be more battles for a starting place over the season arc.

Valencia CF goalkeeper Cezar rank so far - Player Ratings

Valencia CF Goalkeeper Cezar being unbeatable as always

This is just for fun while we wait two weeks for the next match against Barcelona. I'll do an overall ranking for all players that have started and played more than 3 games. I'll start with Cezar first and probably do one ranking each day. Note that I did not watch the game against Athletico Madrid and have no rating for that game, so I'll just skip it.
I'll also do an overall rank of all players when the first half of the season ends and see which player has performed the best, this will also serve to see if players have played better in the first half of the season or the second and show us which players need to go and what positions need strengthening.

Player rank:
vs Bilbao; Cezar 6
vs Man. Utd.; Cezar 8
vs Sporting Gijon; Cezar 7
vs Hercules; Cezar 8.5
vs Bursaspot; Cezar 6
vs Racing Santander; Cezar 9
vs Malaga; Cezar 8
Overall score: 7.5
Cezar gets an overall score of 7.5 and will probably be one of the highest scores of any player after 7 rated games. He has been great so far, with only the last game making one big error that let Bilbao score a late goal from freekick, otherwise a great display from the veteran in all games.
