Valencia CF vs Atletico Madrid Match Preview

The new season is upon us ladies and gentlemen and I'm excited to see what Valencia CF can achieve this season. After last year's successful season, the expectations have grown and if it was a surprise to achieve 4th place last season, this one it is expected.

Valencia CF did do some good work in the transfer market and brought in several reinforcements, giving more options to the coach, though we did lose Goncalo Guedes(who can still come to VCF though), Andreas Pereira(who even though didn't celebrate himself with his performances, did help us out on few occasions and as a backup did very well).

So it's mostly the same look team with few new names and just in general more options, especially in attack as Valencia CF got Kevin Gameiro for 16 million euros, and Michy Batshuayi who came in on a loan deal with an option to purchase the player at the end of the season for about 35 million euros. Michy is a talented player who just didn't have many opportunities at Chelsea FC last season and maybe he can shine for us.

Our first opponent is Atletico Madrid, so a very tough opponent right off the gate for us and it will be very interesting to see how we fare and what our level is compared to last season. We lost both matches against Atletico Madrid last year, so essentially a draw or a win tonight will be progress from last season and it is going to establish us as a champions league contender once again right off the gate.

Valencia CF Squad:
