Espanyol vs Valencia CF Match Preview

Valencia CF started off their season in the best possible way, a solid draw against one of the best Spanish teams in the past 5-6 years who just before the opening league match just crushed Real Madrid 4-2 in the Super Cup, while Valencia CF also lost both times it met Atletico Madrid last season, so this was a huge step forward.

Valencia CF will need to build upon that result though and make it count with a with tonight against Espanyol. The key to reaching top 4 position this season as well is beating the smaller teams consistently, we can't be losing easier points, because even if we do well against the better teams it won't count if we can't take points from the bottom table teams and struggle against them. Last year we managed to dispose of most of the weaker opponents and at some point we were even in contention for first place. So we need a repeat of the first half of last season.

This Valencia CF team has improved from last season, we brought in more defenders, we secured Kondogbia, kept all of the key players and brought in quite a few new players who add much needed quantity and of course quality to the team. Deals like Cheryshev, Michy, etc... were amazing deals and even though they are only loan deal, we have buy options on all of them if they prove their worth.

The biggest loss from last season is Goncalo Guedes, but he hasn't featured even one match so far for PSG, in fact he hasn't even been in the lineup for their matches so far. As far as I'm aware he is not injured, he is just not getting added to the lineup, so it's possible that we still might get him, because the situation is not worth it for PSG, not worth it for the player and if they keep on not playing him, heck even including him in their lineup, his value will fall significantly, so PSG will only lose out.

Anyways this is going to be an interesting match, I expect almost the same lineup as the previous match, with the only change being in the defense, as Garay is injured and out of the squad.
