Official: Ezequiel Garay joins Valencia CF

The summer transfer window has closed, and basically minutes before the end Valencia CF announced the signing of Argentinian defender Ezequel Garay who joins us from FC Zenit for a reported fee of around 25 million euros.

The player would have a rather big salary of around 4 million euros if he manages to activate all of the bonuses, while the player has signed a deal till 2020 with Valencia CF.

Right now the central defense consists of Ezequiel Garay, Mangala, Santos and Aymen, three of whom have really hard to write surnames or names.

Its important to note that Mangala and Garay are both under Jorge Mendes, but at least these two players come as good deals, something which hasn't been the case in the past with Mendes clients.

I'm looking forward to see the new duo of Garay and Mangala, I think they are a step up over Vezo, Santos and Aymen, Mustafi could be considered better than Mangala and about equal to Garay, but I think we end up neither weaker or stronger from this, just different. The one positive is that Aymen can finally be benched and I'd like to see him sold or loaned out in the winter, while we move for another temporary defender, until we can get Raul Albiol for free next summer.
