Barcelona to offer 60 million for Andre Gomes

FC Barcelona is stepping up interest for Andre Gomes as they are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. Barcelona coach Luis Enrique is not pleased with Arda Turan's contribution, so he is looking to offload him and bring in a more attacking option, someone who could also be a long term solution to Andre Iniesta as he isn't getting any younger.

Andre Gomes as such is seen as the perfect replacement for Turan and someone who can slowly take over the Iniesta role. Valencia CF have been resisting offers of 40 and 50 million euros, but with the inability to sell either Alvaro Negredo or Enzo Perez, the team is forced to sell Gomes in order to get an injection of cash so they can bring in the wanted reinforcements.

60 million euros will go a long way towards bringing few new players, assuming some of the "dead wood" is offloaded first. The club has 28 players right now and if they don't offload at least 4-5 players it will inflate the wage expenditure to unsustainable levels. One of the biggest problems is Alvaro Negredo who's 3+ millions salary per year is too high to sustain, considering his minimal contribution.

Good news is that Pablo Piatti is talking with Espanyol about joining them, while Yoel has supposedly agreed terms with Eibar. So those are two players close to leaving, which is a start, but there needs to be several more departures.
