Roberto Soldado joins Villarreal CF

Former Valencia CF striker Roberto Soldado joins Spanish football club Villarreal CF after two unsuccessful seasons at Tottenham. Roberto Soldado was at the top of his career in Valencia CF, being the lead goalscorer for Valencia CF for two seasons and consistently scoring over 20 goals per season in all competitions.

Being at the top of his career he attracted interest from many rich clubs, with Tottenham showing the most interest as they looked to rebuild their squad and create a top team. He joined Spurs for 30 million euros and was seen as a major reinforcement for their team, a player capable of scoring 20+ goals per season.

Unfortunately for him things didn't work out as he had surely hoped and certainly as Tottenham would have hoped. English football proved too different and the different tactics and formation at Tottenham as compared to Valencia CF proved too much for Soldado to overcome. Overall he scored only 7 goals in 52 appearances.

He now joins Villarreal CF and can hopefully rediscover his form and do well for them, though hopefully not too good as they are a direct Valencia CF rival. Anyways good luck to him in his new club!
