Valencia CF vs RCD Espanyol Match Preview
Stadium: Mestalla

Last 16, Copa del Rey
Coaches: Nuno Santos and Sergio González

Valencia CF is coming to this match off of an amazing and well deserved victory over Real Madrid and the team will surely be extra motivated and extra confident coming into this match, but as the coach said the players mustn't get overconfident and caught up in the hype and its a whole new game against RCD Espanyol and the team will have to work from start and give 100% in order to win against a tough and dangerous opponent.

Sure beating Real Madrid is a very good feeling and a long time coming, but that should be in the past and the team must look to win every match and get the points or in the case in this match, get the advantage in the first game at home, so the team can have an easier and more stable second game.

RCD Espanyol are currently sitting 10th on the table with 20 points from 17 matches, of course Valencia CF won 3-1 over Espanyol the first time the teams met in the league and will be looking to repeat that result. The goal scorers in that league game for Valencia CF were Piatti, Parejo and Paco, with Garcia managing a last minute consolidation goal for RCD Espanyol to make it 3-1.

Valencia CF coach Nuno Santos has decided to rest our new signing Enzo Perez, while Diego Alves and Pablo Piatti are out of the squad with injuries.Rodrigo Moreno is also out of the squad, possibly due to accumulated yellow cards. Sofiane Feghouli is also out and he is with Algeria for the African cup and its going to be at least one month before he returns. As always absent from the squad is Zuculini who at this point needs to return to Manchester City. I think its not fair to the player to never select or play him and the team obviously has no need for him, so both parties should mutually agree to rescind the loan deal. I'm sure Manchester City wouldn't mind to get their player back as well.

Valencia CF Squad:
Goalkeepers: Yoel, Jaume
Defenders: Barragan, Cancelo, Vezo, Mustafi, Otamendi, Gaya, Orban
Midfielders: Fuego, Augusto, Parejo, Gomes, Gil, Roberto, De Paul
Forwards: Negredo, Paco

Technical Details Valencia CF (probable setups):
Formation: 4-3-3
Line-up: Yoel; Cancelo, Mustafi, Otamendi, Gaya; Fuego, Parejo, Gomes; De Paul, Negredo, Gil.
Tactics: Mid defensive line, own third pressure, mixed passing, deep laying defensive midfielder, counter attacks.

Match Result:
Valencia CF 2-0 RCD Espanyol
I think this is going to be a clean game for Valencia CF, the team is really confident right now and they know their play style, the defense is solid, Fuego has returned and he is really fresh so he can provide a lot of cover defensively and while Parejo and Gomes might be a bit tired from the match against Real Madrid, they should have enough stamina to give 100% for 70-75 minutes in this match. We also have De Paul who is likely to start since both Piatti and Feghouli are out. Espanyol are dangerous when going forward, but I think the defense will deal with them and its likely for Valencia CF to score two goals.
