Celta Vigo vs Valencia CF Match Preview
Stadium: BalaĆdos
Date: 10.01.2015, 20:00 CET
18th matchday, La Liga
Coaches: Eduardo Berizzo and Nuno Santos

Valencia CF have started 2015 in the best possible fashion, beating Real Madrid 2-1 at home at the Mestalla in front of a full stadium and then beating RCD Espanyol 2-1 in the first leg on the round of 16 as well. The team will be looking to extend the good streak and make it three wins in the new year.

Enzo Perez was rested for the cup match so its likely that is he is going to start again today, but in who's place in the answer. Will he start in Parejo's place, Fuego's place and even Gomes place as he can play on all three positions. He is most comfortable in the center midfield, dictating play, sort of the box to box style, that spot is obviously reserved to Parejo in this team, while the defensive midfield spot was reserved for Fuego who's done a great job so far, but at times has lacked that forward push that the team has need.

So my bet is that Fuego will start on the bench and Enzo Perez will start in his position, it just seems logical that would be the case, but he may rest Parejo, since he's played in two back to back matches, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Celta Vigo have been doing pretty well this season, they are currently 9th position at the table with 20 points which is more than anyone would have given them credit for at the start of the season, but they've proven that they are a good side and will present a hard challenge for Valencia CF today. They have strong counter attacks, just like our side and defensively they've been very well organized. The only exception has been against a very in form Real Madrid side in 2014, but against Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla and other weaker teams they've been quite solid.

They had a blunder just recently though, conceding 4 goals to Athletic Bilbao and losing the match 4-2, but apart from that they've been overall solid in the back and attack, so they are certainly going to represent a challenge for Valencia. Hopefully Nuno would have closely studied the match against Athletic and be able to inform the team how to approach this match and be able to secure a win.

Winning against Celta Vigo is so important, those 3 points are absolutely necessary since the team will continue catching up with the table leaders and put pressure on them, as well as establish parity with Sevilla who still have one more match to play more than Valencia CF.

Technical Details Valencia CF (probable setups):

Tactics: Medium defensive line, own third pressure, mix passing, deep laying defensive midfielder, counter attacks.

Match Result:
Celta Vigo 0-1 Valencia CF
I think its going to be a very close game, if I look at Celta Vigo results its mostly been losses or wins by only one goal difference, mostly 0-1 or 1-0, Valencia CF hasn't been scoring 3 goals every match or every match for some time now, so I'm expecting a slow grind fest with Valencia CF likely scoring from a set piece, most likely a corner kick.
