RCD Espanyol vs Valencia CF Match Preview

RCD Espanyol vs Valencia CF Match Preview
Stadium: Estadi Cornellà-El Prat
Date: 08.02.2015, 19:00 CET
22nd matchday, La Liga
Coaches: Sergio González and Nuno Santo

Valencia CF  has a lot to prove in this match after last week's disaster against Malaga. This is a chance for Valencia CF to get revenge over Espanyol for the Copa del Rey cup elimination and make things right after last week's blunder and missed opportunity.

Nuno Espirito Santo has had a lot of work to do and one of the biggest issue he has to address in the midfield and midfield possession. The team has been losing the center battle of the field even against the weakest of teams, something that should not happen.

Valencia CF has a good record home though, I don't know what it is, if the crowd really affects the team that positively that they play so much better at home, but they do and this will be a challenge tonight for the team to win away from home against RCD Espanyol who've shown before that they can beat Valencia CF and they are going to go after 3 points in this match. So the team has to prove itself that they can win away from home and do it in a good fashion as well, have chances, have control over the match.

The good news is that Pablo Piatti and Sofiene Feghouli are both back, Piatti returns from a long injury and Feghouli returns from the African cup of nations after being eliminated with his national team Algeria. Both these players were sorely missed at times and its good that they are back, but the question is how soon can they fit in and start playing optimally after a month of not playing for the team.

Valencia CF Squad:
Goalkeepers: Alves, Yoel
Defenders: Barragan, Vezo, Mustafi, Gaya, Orban
Midfielders: Fuego, Parejo, Enzo, Gomes, Felipe, Feghouli, Piatti, De Paul
Forwards: Negredo, Paco, Moreno

Technical Details Valencia CF (probable setups):
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Line-up: Diego; Barragan, Mustafi, Vezo, Gaya; Enzo, Parejo; Feghouli; Gomes, Piatti, Paco.
Tactics: Medium defensive line, own third pressure, short passing, counter attacks.

Match Result:
RDC Espanyol 1-2 Valencia CF
I'm going to go with caution this time after being burned last match and predict a minor 2-1 victory for Valencia CF. I think RCD Espanyol are going to score and its probably going to be 1-1, before Paco Alcacer scoring a goal to make it 2-1 in the 70-80th minute.
