Jan Oblak to replace Guaita
Valencia CF have set their sights on 21 year old Slovenian and Benfica keeper Jan Oblak. Valencia CF face competition from many other clubs particularly Real Madrid, should one of their keepers leave, and Atletico Madrid, who look to find a replacement due to the imminent departure of Courtois to Chelsea. Latest reports today suggest that Valencia CF is willing to activate his 20 million euro release clause in hopes to beat the other teams to his signature.
The long debate on who should be goalkeeper of Valencia CF was put to bed this year with Diego Alves the stand-out favorite in the club. In search of more playing time, Guaita is expected to leave. Jan Oblak is rumored to become one of the best in the business judging by his performances for Benfica and would be a good understudy to Diego Alves.
As a final note, this signing was recommended by none other than rumored incoming manager Nuno Espirito Santo who regards Oblak highly. If this signing goes through, it would make the arrival of the Santo, and as a result the departure of Pizzi, just about certain.
