Portland 0-1 Valencia CF - Match Report

Valencia CF win their first match  out of two on the US tourney with a goal by Aritz Aduriz in the first half of the match.

Unai Emery decided to bring out most of the players that didn't get too many minutes towards the end of the season, with only Carles Gil starting in the first eleven out of the youth players.

Valencia CF squad: Diego; Miguel, Dealbert, Ruiz, Barragan; Albelda, Parejo; Pablo, Gil, Piatti; Aduriz.

The match itself was not very fun, it was definitely played in friendly fashion and we didn't see too many attacks on either side. The best Portland came to score was in the 7th minute and after that its was mostly Valencia CF keeping possession in the middle. The goal for Valencia CF came in the 41th minute after Aduriz was left quite a bit of space to set up and shoot, scoring a goal.

Second half saw quite a bit of substitutions as Joel, Portu, Pardo, Dalmau, Jonas and Tino were introduced in the game. Out of the youngsters I feel Gil has a decent match, not very involved in the game, Joel did quite well and Pardo did worst, making two rather big mistakes.

Piatti from the standard players showed some good moves and skill and was probably the best player on the field.

Overall Valencia CF dominated possession and with the first major chance scored a goal, with Portland mostly defending, while having few chances on the counter attack to score, but failing to do so. The youth players didn't pop out very much and Tino Costa still even after the season is over was playing rather bad.
